Becoming a Follower to become a Leader

Today I reviewed some Blogs in the Wiki, http://www.blogwithoutalibrary.net/links/index.php?title=Welcome_to_the_Blogging_Libraries_Wiki. I chose to follow one that is written by a media specialist in NY, which had a cute title that implied her outlook to librarianship and being a media specialist. The title caught my eye because it was says No Shhing Here (http://noshhinghere.blogspot.com). I was attracted by the onomatopoeia (Shh) and that maybe she is viewing the library as a social space that need not be the stodgy place where books are read "quietly" and the stereotype libraries of yore.

She seems to be an active blogger and the pictures and activities she writes about also imply that she is enthusiastic about her work, serving all sectors of her population in a middle school, and active in creating visually interesting exhibits to entice students.

I signed up as a follower and will probably attempt to make contact and comments at the blog with her. A correspondence would be great with someone already in the field who seems excited about their work.

By the way I am composing this blog while sitting in the Smathers Library West at the University of Florida. (I live in Tampa, so this was my adventure for the week.)So there will be another post about harassing the reference librarians shortly...

Stay tuned, same bat place, same bat time (ok, maybe not time).
