As of 4/29/11, the Science Library at MOSI will b closed. MOSI and the County have decided that the site could be used for different purposes. The Museum will have a new lab space, and the materials of the science library will be moving to various other county libraries. Realia will be housed downtown and the special collections on loan will be returned to the sponsors.
North Tampa and the University Area are losing a unique resource, especially as MOSI will begin charging for parking soon.
Good-bye to a great concept. I could think of no better place for such a library, and it disheartens me to think that a different solution could not be arrived at. This library served the community well. (Look for next post regarding Interview for project).
